What to ask before you hire someone to look after your garden.
Regular maintenance (mowing, hedges, weeding), a one-off tidy-up, or a clearance are different jobs with different prices. Write a short list so every gardener quotes for the same work.
Hourly rates make it hard to compare. A fixed price for each visit, or for the whole job, tells you exactly what you will pay and what is included, including green waste removal.
Look for recent, detailed reviews on Google and ask how long the business has worked locally. Local gardeners with years of trading and a visible track record are easier to trust.
A good gardener will look at the garden before giving a price. Be cautious of quotes given blind over the phone for anything other than the simplest jobs.
